We offer a minimum rate of 65% commission on all sales. This is the highest commission rate available for sites like this that we have found. We chose this figure as we felt we might be able to cover our expenses that are left.
Just to be transparent about things, some of these expenses include:
- hosting (we work with a company that ensure the speed of the site is at its best)
- maintenance of the site (we work with a company that keeps the site up and running)
- advertising of products for our vendors (we advertise featured resources on social media using sponsored ads)
- competitions and prizes
- accounts and fees (this works out at about 10% of all sales so we're down to 20% after this)
- bank charges and tax
- other miscellaneous costs to improve all aspects of the site
- promoting other Irish projects and charities
We also provide the following services to vendors
- no membership fee
- free to upload as much as you like
- no hosting charges for sellers no matter what they sell
- a central helpdesk for tech support and complaints
- free advertising of products
- free social media advertising
- over 40,000 ready-made customers
- over 20,000 visits per day to the site
- tips and help for sellers to make their products sell better
- options to allow sellers promote their products through blogs and newsletters
So... we think a minimum of 65% is about fair :-)
