As a seller on Mash, you will likely be earning extra money on top of your teaching job. From our commission, we pay corporation tax and VAT. However, we have decided not to take any tax from your earnings and leave this to you to organise depending on your own circumstances. Many sellers on the site will be under the tax threshold and may not have to pay tax. Some of our highest sellers will be liable to pay VAT on their earnings. A number of sellers will set up as a sole trader or limited company and pay tax at different rates. In fact, sometimes what you are selling may fall under a zero VAT rate so this may apply.
Whatever situation you are in, we would advise that you get some advice on tax affairs from an accountant. They will be able to look at your store and advise you how much tax you need to pay on your commission.
